Prototype Xiaomi SU7 Ultra became the fastest four-door electric car on the racetrack circuit that became the benchmark car Test World Nurburgring, Germany.
The Drive page, Thursday (31/10) reported that the car was faster than Tesla, Porsche, and even the unmodified Rim acNe vera sports car.
The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, inspired by the world of racing, is a high-performance version of the battery-powered SU7. The SU7 became the first car from smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi to go on sale in China in March 2024.
The SU7 Ultra prototype uses three electric motors that generate a total of 1139kw, which Xiaomi claims is capable of reaching speeds of 0-100 kilometers/h in 1.97 seconds. The record time makes it one of the fastest accelerating cars in the world, it can reach a top speed of 350 kilometers/hour in 15.07 seconds.
The SU7 Ultra prototype clocked a lap time of six minutes and 46.784 seconds around the Nurburgring Nordschleife, a 20,832-kilometre circuit used by the world’s carmakers to measure ride, handling and performance.
The lap was recorded on a partially wet track by Briton David Pittard, winner of the Nurburgring 24 Hours 2023 endurance race, despite losing power for about eight seconds entering the Hohe Acht section of the track.
The SU7 Ultra’s time is better than the fastest lap of Rimac’s electric car Nevera, which clocked seven minutes and 5.298 seconds in 2023.
The achievement also makes the Xiaomi SU7 the fastest four-door vehicle on the track, beating the Tesla Model S Plaid sedan which clocked seven minutes and 35.579 seconds in 2021.
The SU7 Ultra is also 20 seconds faster than the previous best time, which was achieved by the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT which recorded a time of seven minutes 7.55 seconds in September 2023.
