Mandalika circuit to host Porsche Sprint Challenge Indonesia

Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit will host the Porsche Sprint Challenge Indonesia 2023 four-wheeled race on December 8-10.

Director of marketing and Tourism Program InJourney Maya Watono said Porsche Sprint Challenge Indonesia is a form of activation and appreciation to motorsport enthusiast fans in Indonesia. He wants motorsport enthusiasts from all over Indonesia to flock to the Mandalika Circuit to witness and enliven this championship.

The Mandalika Circuit was chosen because the race track, located in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, has been tested to hold World Superbike (WSBK) and MotoGP from 2021 to 2023.

This recognition was also obtained from Dorna Sports as the owner of WSBK and MotoGP racing events and Superstars Motorsport as the promoter of Porsche Sprint Challenge Indonesia.

“We use consultants from Italy. We’ve done this circuit three times. So the asphalt on this track is the best in the world. Dorna yesterday said This is the most beautiful circuit in the world with the best asphalt,” said Maya, through an official statement, Wednesday.

With the increase in international championships at the Mandalika Circuit, the Mandalika Circuit will be increasingly lifted as an area focused on “sport and entertainment tourism”.

Maya said the car racing event, which was first held at the Mandalika Circuit, could be the starting point for other four-wheeled races.

Similarly, director of operations of Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) Troy Reza Warokka also believes that the increasing number of championships on the Mandalika Circuit will strengthen the position of the Mandalika circuit as a destination for “sports and entertainment tourism”.

“We believe this will strengthen our position as a ‘sport and entertainment tourism’ destination in Indonesia and also have a positive impact on the economy. Not only for Indonesia, but also for the local community around Mandalika,” said Troy Reza.

The quality and beauty of the Mandalika Circuit was also agreed by the CEO of Superstars Motorsport Bagoes Hermanto.

“Porsche Sprint Challenge Indonesia can be held regularly so as to provide an economic impact to the surrounding community and become one of the parts to be able to participate in developing the Mandalika area as a tourism destination that has been determined by the government,” said Bagoes.

The vehicle that will be used in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Indonesia 2023 is the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.
